CLUTTER MAGAZINE

barratatouille-Clutter-Magazine

That year, I was not at the end of my surprises. When I was interested in the middle of the toy, I documented myself via the web of course but also with the specialized press. This is where I came across Clutter Magazine … A really cool and cool magazine to watch.

For each issue, a different format, a highlight of the universe of a toys creator, the discovery of talented artists, information on sites and stores dedicated to this world that fascinated me more and more.

In 2012, the magazine organized for the second time an international contest on toys via its dedicated site designertoyawards. That year, it had selected the 100 best international figures … to my surprise Candy my little rabbit had been selected among the best specialists in discipline ! Of course, I had no chance of winning against these GIANTS.

(But I had a great visibility of my work … I explain, as my pseudo is Barratatouille and since the site had put the figurines in alphabetical order of their creators, I found myself on the front line! Miss :) just next to 64colors a big artists. As expected, I did not win but it encouraged me to continue in this direction.

SPANKYSTOKES (part II)

barratatouille-SpankyStokes

At the end of my second realization, I had fun to do a little research of my pseudo in Google. When, I typed Barratatouille in pictures … There in the middle of the pictures of the famous dish Marseille! I see my Candy figurine associated with John’s blog. I had the wonderful surprise of seeing that he had made a complimentary article on it but that he had not told me anything about it.

In the wake, I thanked him and I sent him the picture of my second realization Lili Rose that I had just finished. What gave another article on his blog just as friendly.

Since that time, I send my achievements (when time permits) to feed his blog (on my small scale) and show my latest creations!

Creation of my second toy

Lili Rose

Idid not get discouraged, and I wanted to move on to another figure, because the envy was really there. For my first realization, I had loved this side DIY, between painting, DIY and sewing;). So I wanted to realize there again the same style of figurine, a character coated with a fur. With, of course, a Munny of the Kidrobot brand!

I pushed a little further the difficulty especially in the costume. I had fun making teeth and felt fins, grafted imposing transparent buttons to make large globular eyes … all on a green fur with long hair. This costume is subsequently glued on the Munny skin-painted bomb. I had fun to give him a little manga side with the two little pink points a little fluo on both cheeks.

And always a little head cut in sign of trophy:) … this time, it is the great schtroumpf that passes there! For the rest, the character is placed on a pedestal with a “marsh” effect thanks to a synthetic fake herb with flowers (simple buttons) and a small “magic” mushroom in Fimo paste surmounted there again a fancy button.

The knife is made with a silver-colored plastic plate with some traces of blood on the blade. Personally, I think that this universe of green works perfectly with a few spikes of red … its complementary color. Why did I turn to the illustration that represented the swamp creature? Because I am very fan of Z-series and as you can see on the first visual, also make a wink to Hannibal Smith of the Agency all risks. And this illustration was also part of the visuals of my lollipops.

I hope that like me, you will find the result nice. Because of all the visuals of this series, it is my favorite!

SPANKYSTOKES (part I)

barratatouille-SpankyStokes

After getting in touch with some of these blogs by sending the photo of my first figurine, I received an email from John Stokes the creator of the blog Spankystokes. In this mail, there was a whole series of questions, to which I answered quickly. Obviously my figurine had rained … cool. After sending the reply mail, I did not receive any mail back … Too bad, I thought, he nevertheless seemed to be interested.

HOW ALL HAS BEGUN

CANDY

Afew years ago now … Everything started from this little sketch … I had to make visuals for chocolate lollipops for the Easter holidays … When I worked as a graphic designer / illustrator in a company that realized Decorations in chocolate. (You can also find the photo of these lollipops in chocolate section.).

In general, I start from a pencil that I realize on paper and then I scan to redraw it in Illustrator d’Adobe or in this case, I start from a “vectorized skeleton” that I make in Illustrator d’Adobe that I print on A4 paper to draw and draw my drawings in paper pencil.

So I had fun making small characters who are dressed in animal costumes and monsters. After seeing the result on the chocolate pacifiers. I do not know why, but I had the idea to realize them in volume like that for fun!

At first, I decided to make the little rabbit which seemed to me easier to achieve. For this I needed a base, but which one? I do not remember how I came across the Munny …

All I know is that I fell in love with this little character of the brand Kidrobot with whom I make my figurines since the beginning of this adventure.

With a little hardware (a few buttons, Fimo paste, fur, sewing thread) and a lot of trick, I got to this result!

A rabbit bunny rabbit cretin :) because yes … it is indeed a small female character … With pretty freckles.

Again, I do not know why, I wanted to share the work that I had just realized … but to whom? I naturally turned to sites and blogs specialized in the toy.
